Els Alfacs Bay
Els Alfacs Bay

Welcome to the blueparadise, where the land embraces the sea.Els Alfacs Baywas formed naturally in the 16th century by the all uvium brought down by the River Ebro. It began with a sand bank known as L’Alfac, which eventually connected via the El Trabucadorbar to a new tongue of land known as La Banya, forming the largest natural bay in Europe.
The immense, shallow bay is one of the safest natural ports on the Catalan coastand is ideal for water sports. Its attraction as a large natural port led King Charles III to choose it as the site for his planned grand Mediterranean port.
In the bay you will find the large unspoilt beach of El Trabucador and the rest of the urban beaches, including the marvellous Garbí and Les Delícies beaches, both of which have been awarded the Blue Flag for quality.
The whole area is surrounded by a great biodiversity. Punta de la Banya is part of the Ebro Delta Natural Park. It has been declared a partial nature reserve and is a nesting area for the elegant flamingos that are the symbol of La Ràpita and the Ebro Delta.
